Facilities Engineer/Safety- Pittsburg, PA

- Supervises in-house janitorial crews as well as contract cleaning.
- Coordinates Clean Room uniforms to assure consistent service is provided to manufacturing and support personnel.
- Coordinates set-up and maintenance of conference rooms.
- Responsible for repairs to Clean Rooms.
- Management of Leetsdale Security including procedures and systems.
- Non-Inventory Purchasing including adherence to policies, evaluation of opportunities for cost savings and service improvement.
- Responsible for management of construction activity and/or personnel on all major Facility renovations, expansions, improvements, and facility administration related projects, including:
- Management of outside contractors (Electrical, mechanical, structural, etc.) for construction activity on facility projects. Defines requirements, solicits and reviews contractor proposals. May act as a general contractor when possible for cost savings and improved project quality and timing. Also responsible for some Clean Room engineering, improvements, and upgrades to support Manufacturing operations.
- Responsible for the project management of various capital improvement projects related to Facilities and Manufacturing support including new construction and renovations, equipment installations, and environmental control systems.
- Prepares and justifies Capital Expenditure Request (CER) in support of facilities projects and manages project expense tracking versus authorized amounts and documents final CER in-service closure.
- Completes designs, specifications, and job cost and schedule estimates for management approval of construction and renovation projects.
- Maintains and updates facility engineering and floor plan drawings and records.
- Responsible to ensure projects are in compliance with all corporate policy and applicable laws and regulations.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all necessary employee screenings including hearing conservation, monitoring employee exposure to hazardous chemicals, noise and air.
- Conduct or manage safety and job hazard analysis or audit activities
- Provide and develop applicable health and safety training to employees
- Provide in-house management of the facility's Hazardous Materials and key support functions in complying with the Hazard Communication requirements. Monitor these materials as they are received into the facility and file Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS's) in the appropriate locations. Regularly audit the condition and storage of materials and all MSDS books to ensure current documents. Work closely with corporate Industrial Hygienist and safety personnel.
- Identify opportunities to reduce or eliminate regulatory oversight.
- Closely monitor WC cases, and work with insurance carrier, Corporate Health and Safety and Production Supervisor to proactively return injured employees safely back to work.
- Manage occupational injuries by job station evaluations and ergonomic recommendations and investigating the causes of common injuries
- Manage modified duty (Return-to-work) program working Human Resources, and managers and supervisors to facilitate employees returning to work. Revise program as needed.
Bachelors Degree or certification in a relevant discipline is desirable.
- 5 - 7 years experience in facilities administration.
- Commitment to provide service excellence for all facilities maintenance. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of employees.
- Must possess certification and experience of State/Federal hazardous waste and DOT shipping requirements and regulations.
Candidates must be familiar with proper construction techniques, building codes, and clean room requirements such as HVAC, utilities and plant services.
Possess knowledge of Workers Compensation Laws, OSHA, EPA and state regulations, and Building Code for applicable state.
